Legal services
The price of legal services is agreed between the attorney and the client pursuant to Decree No. 177/1996 Coll., the attorney tariff, or as a contractual hourly fee usually in the range of CZK 3,000 – 5,000 per commenced hour. The client and attorney agree the price according to the difficulty, scope and value of the matter. We are VAT payers; statutory VAT is added to the agreed amount.
Alternatively, fees may be based on acts of legal service or a success fee, i.e. a share of the outcome of the dispute.
It is also possible to agree a flat fee covering a certain number of hours or acts within a lump sum.
When legal representation is accepted, the first consultation is usually not charged.
Mediation services
The mediator’s fee for the first meeting with a mediator ordered by a court is set by a decree of the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic and is CZK 400 per hour.
The mediator’s fee for conducting mediation is agreed contractually in the mediation agreement and usually ranges from CZK 3,000 – 5,000 per commenced hour of mediation services; the parties usually each pay half or a corresponding share.
Consumer dispute resolution
In the event of any dispute between the attorney and a consumer, we note that on 5 February 2016 the Czech Bar Association was entrusted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic with out-of-court resolution of consumer disputes arising from contracts for the provision of legal services (under Act No. 634/1992 Coll., on consumer protection, as amended).
